Las Vegas meets South Beach to bring you a classy new lounge called FDR Lounge at the Delano Hotel. Brought to you by The Light Group, who has arrived on the Miami scene in a big way (doesn’t hurt to be one with Morgans Hotel Group), had musically-inclined celebs like Mos Def & Flo Rida there Monday night to pump up the party, kicking off Classic Mondays at FDR & the Grand Opening. Oh, &, in case you aren’t making the connection, “FDR” stands for “Franklin Delano Roosevelt,” the 32nd President of the United States & the man that is the “Delano” in the Delano.
The event welcomed the sexy & sophisticated (much like the decor) to a premier lounge not to be forgotten. Replacing the Florida Room is no easy feat. You still walk down the steps into an intimate ambiance below the Delano, but now you’re enveloped by FDR’s amazing glamour. FDR’s lighting guy/gal surely knows how to make the place shine, hitting the glittering gold & plush purple accents just right, accenting the ceilings & the walls.
While putting your glass full of one of FDR’s signature cocktails, like The Eleanor or The New Deal (that is an American history reference for those of you who skipped middle school), down on a candle lit table, you’ll notice the tables glow gold from the inside. It’s the little things that impress us! Among the renovations, FDR featured plush seating, modern chandeliers & an attitude that was subtle yet flashy (we know that makes no sense…until you see it).
FDR was filled with the stunning faces that South Beach is known for. Partygoers were surrounded by gorgeous smiles & champagne filled glasses (which sparkled like diamonds). Mos Def made his appearance & took the mic for a classic performance (hence Classic Mondays).
The Grand Opening made one thing clear, FDR has made its grand contribution to the new era of South Beach. It filled the footprints of Florida Room (RIP) & so much more. Keep an eye out for other Light Group productions – they are clearly raising the bar for South Beach nightlife.
